About the role#
The ASI Events and Outreach Student Assistant supports the planning, promotion, and execution of campus events at the Cal Poly Maritime Academy. You will help ensure programs are well-organized and reflect the interests of the campus community. This role involves working from concept to completion, managing event logistics, and supporting outreach efforts.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service to students, staff, vendors, and campus partners.
- Manage event logistics, including set-up, on-site support, and tear-down.
- Coordinate support staff roles during special events.
- Assist with event registration and ticketing platforms.
- Distribute post-event surveys and conduct event follow-up.
- Build relationships with campus clubs, departments, and other college campuses.
- Create and revise marketing and communication plans for digital, print, and social media.
- Maintain marketing timelines and gather content for promotional campaigns.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, and videographers on marketing materials.
- Support photo and video shoots.
- Act as a program ambassador and role model for student development.
- Enforce departmental policies and ensure a safe environment for participants.
- Comply with mandated reporter requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Cal Poly with at least 6 units (or 4 units for graduate students).
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Experience in leadership or management.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and individuals with special needs.
- Interest in music or live entertainment.
- Prior experience in event planning or program-specific roles is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Cal Poly Solano Campus, Vallejo, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
- Schedule: Requires availability for late nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Commitment: Minimum of two consecutive terms of work availability.
