About the role#
Rockland Trust is hiring a Legal Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, paid position is based in the Commercial Bank Corporate Legal Department. You will work alongside experienced attorneys to gain hands-on experience in corporate and banking law. This role is designed for students who want to apply classroom learning to real-world legal challenges.
What you'll do#
- Partner with attorneys to support a variety of ongoing legal matters.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on corporate, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and assist in negotiating commercial contracts under attorney supervision.
- Prepare and maintain corporate records and board materials for governance matters.
- Assist with due diligence for vendor management and strategic business projects.
- Maintain legal forms, templates, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with fellow interns on a summer project to present findings to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Juris Doctor (J.D.) program with strong academic performance.
- Completion of the second year of law school (2L preferred).
- Availability to work a regular schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Personal integrity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
- A team-first mindset with strong relationship-building skills.
- Coursework in corporate, banking, or securities law is preferred.
