About the role#
The Astros Golf Foundation is seeking a Volunteer & Charity Intern to assist with the Texas Children’s Houston Open and other events. You will work directly with the Volunteer & Charity Coordinator to manage event logistics, program communications, and administrative records. This role requires managing confidential information with discretion and working across departments like Operations, Ticketing, and Finance.
What you'll do#
- Recruit volunteers and assist with the registration process.
- Manage volunteer scheduling, reporting, and budget tracking.
- Coordinate outreach for raffle items and meals.
- Administer the Birdies for Charity program and related raffles.
- Update training decks and order supplies for Volunteer Committee Chairs.
- Assist with credential and uniform packaging and distribution.
- Manage charity load in and out during tournament week.
- Coordinate volunteer meals and booth activations.
- Support volunteer party setup and committee operations.
What you'll need#
- Junior level college student or graduate student enrolled in Sports Management, PGA Management, Hospitality, or Business Management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and internet software like Trust Event and Partner HQ.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, team-oriented work ethic.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
- Comfort making phone calls and meeting with clients, vendors, and non-profits.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Location & details#
- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027 (January 4, 2027, to May 5, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional onsite requirements during tournament week.
- This is a paid, part-time internship.

Established in 2017, the venue serves as the Spring Training home for the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals.
