About the role#
The .NET Developer Intern will assist with designing, developing, testing, and supporting business applications. You will work across the user interface, application, and database layers using Microsoft .NET and related web technologies. This role provides hands-on experience throughout the software development lifecycle while contributing to active projects under the guidance of experienced developers.
What you'll do#
- Participate in software design and requirements sessions with the Applications team and business stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and enhance .NET-based web applications according to defined standards and security practices.
- Participate in peer code reviews to improve code quality and maintainability.
- Develop and execute application test plans to validate functionality and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and project artifacts to support application deployment and knowledge transfer.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming and software development concepts.
- Coursework or hands-on experience with C#.NET, or a comparable programming language.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, development practices, and business processes.
- Ability to follow organizational requirements for cybersecurity, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Experience with ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, or Entity Framework is preferred.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Blazor is a plus.
- Experience using Git or another source-control platform.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, or similar development tools.
- Understanding of software testing, debugging, and application security principles.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The position is available on-site in Lynchburg, Virginia, or remotely.
- The starting hourly rate is $26.52 per hour.
