About the role#
The Operations Intern will evaluate and improve the performance of the Yard and Delivery department in Rapid City. This project-based role allows you to apply classroom knowledge to a construction supply environment. You will work with the team to identify operational improvements and perform administrative tasks.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside the dispatcher and yard foreman to understand daily workflows including load building, truck dispatch, and material delivery.
- Review and analyze existing Yard and Delivery processes to identify inefficiencies and potential risks.
- Develop recommendations to eliminate load-building errors and catch issues before materials leave the yard.
- Record findings, summarize observations, and propose actionable solutions.
- Participate in regular check-ins and feedback sessions with the management team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in both office and yard settings, which includes standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or moving materials of 25 pounds or greater.
