About the role#
Buckner Children and Family Services offers internship opportunities within the Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and Family Pathways programs in Longview, Texas. This program provides hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, focusing on supporting families and children in vulnerable situations. Interns will gain exposure to ministry operations, develop professional skills, and collaborate with staff across various departments.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and manage specific aspects of a family case.
- Collaborate with team members to plan special year-round events.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to team projects.
- Perform clerical duties and complete tasks assigned by your supervisor.
- Develop technical skills relevant to the non-profit industry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
- Access to personal housing and reliable transportation to the internship site.
- Comfort working with children and adults of diverse ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Proficiency in providing clear written and verbal instructions.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required.
- Relevant fields of study include Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Public Health, Health Administration, Criminal Justice, Communications, and Political Science.
