About the role#
Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking interns to support programs in the Rio Grande Valley, including Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and transition support programs. This is an unpaid, on-site internship for the Fall 2026 term. Interns will gain experience in the non-profit sector while supporting services for children and families.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and manage specific aspects of family cases.
- Collaborate with team members on planning for year-round events.
- Participate in meetings and team collaborations.
- Perform clerical duties and tasks assigned by a staff supervisor.
- Develop technical skills related to the non-profit industry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Ability to commit to 16 to 24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability.
- A strong academic record.
- Access to personal housing and transportation to and from the assigned site.
- Comfort working with children and adults of diverse ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and religious beliefs.
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Human Resources, and Criminal Justice. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
