Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking interns for the Fall 2026 term to support programs in the Rio Grande Valley, including Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and transition support services. This unpaid internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in the non-profit sector while contributing to programs that support families and children in vulnerable situations.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and assist in managing aspects of family cases.
- Collaborate with team members on planning special year-round events.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to departmental projects.
- Perform various clerical duties and tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
- Develop technical skills related to non-profit ministry and community service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
- A strong academic record.
- Comfort working with individuals of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Proficiency in giving clear written and verbal instructions.
- Access to your own housing and reliable transportation to the assigned internship site.
- Preference is given to candidates bilingual in Spanish, though this is not required.
- Relevant fields of study include Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice.
