About the role#
The City of Starkville offers a structured internship program in partnership with the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District. This position is funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and provides hands-on experience within the Municipal Court Department. You will work under supervision to support court operations and administrative tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with courtroom setup before hearings, including preparing dockets and recording systems.
- Record court proceedings, dispositions, and judicial orders.
- Maintain, scan, and file both paper and electronic case records.
- Enter case data into the court management system.
- Process court documents such as summons, warrants, and subpoenas.
- Accept payments for court costs, fees, and fines.
- Assist the public at the service counter and over the phone with information on court procedures and payment options.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior status at Starkville High School in good standing with the Work Based Learning Program.
- Must be 16 to 17 years old.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work four-hour shifts, five days per week.
