Internship

About the role#

Buckner Children and Family Services offers internship opportunities within its Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and Family Pathways programs. This role provides hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, focusing on supporting programs that serve families and children in vulnerable situations. Interns will gain exposure to ministry and social services while developing professional skills relevant to future employment.

What you'll do#

• Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
• Shadow and manage specific aspects of a family case.
• Collaborate with team members on planning special year-round events.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to team-based projects.
• Perform necessary clerical duties and tasks assigned by a staff supervisor.
• Build technical skills related to non-profit operations and community service.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
• Strong academic record.
• Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
• Comfort working with children and adults from diverse ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
• Proficiency in giving clear written and verbal instructions.
• Access to personal housing and reliable transportation to the internship site.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required.
• Relevant fields of study include Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice.
