About the role#
Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking interns to support programs including Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and Family Pathways in Midland, Texas. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in the non-profit sector while contributing to projects that support families in the community. Interns will develop a working knowledge of non-profit operations, build professional networks, and receive training applicable to future employment.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and manage specific aspects of a family case.
- Collaborate with team members on planning special events throughout the year.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to departmental initiatives.
- Perform various clerical duties and tasks assigned by a staff supervisor.
- Learn technical skills related to the non-profit industry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
- Comfort working with individuals of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
- Access to personal housing and transportation to the assigned internship site.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
