About the role#
Buckner International offers an unpaid internship for the Winter 2027 term in Midland, Texas. This program provides hands-on experience in human services and non-profit operations. You will work directly with our teams to support families and children in vulnerable situations. This is an on-site role designed to meet university practicum or field experience requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support family strengthening and case management services.
- Assist with community outreach and program delivery.
- Participate in volunteer and group engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to program administration, research, or special projects.
- Observe trauma-informed and strengths-based practices in action.
- Gain a working knowledge of non-profit operations and ministry in underserved communities.
- Build professional connections with team members and fellow interns.
- Develop skills for working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Commitment to working 16-24 hours per week.
- Availability for some evening hours.
- A strong academic record.
- Access to your own housing and transportation to the assigned site.
- Comfort working with individuals of various ages, cultures, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
- Preference for candidates who are bilingual in Spanish.
- Majors including Sociology, Communications, Marketing, or other relevant fields of study.
