About the role#
Buckner Children and Family Services offers hands-on experience in human services. Interns gain exposure to programs like Family Hope Centers, Foster Care, and Adoption. This is an unpaid, educational placement designed to meet university practicum and field experience requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support family strengthening and case management services.
- Assist with community outreach and program delivery.
- Engage in volunteer and group engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to program administration, research, or special projects.
- Observe trauma-informed and strengths-based practices in action.
- Build a working knowledge of non-profits and ministry in underserved communities.
- Grow skills for working with children and families in vulnerable situations.
- Collaborate with team members across various departments.
- Participate in training and development to prepare for future employment.
- Connect with fellow interns and professionals to build your network.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week, including some evening availability.
- Access to your own housing and transportation.
- Comfort working with children and adults of various ages, cultures, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred.
- Relevant majors include Sociology, Communications, Marketing, or other related fields.
