About the role#
Buckner International offers an internship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in human services. This role supports our mission to strengthen families and serve children, seniors, and communities. Interns gain exposure to the daily operations of a faith-based non-profit while building professional skills in a real-world environment.
What you'll do#
- Support family strengthening and case management services.
- Assist with community outreach and program delivery.
- Engage in volunteer and group engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to program administration, research, or special projects.
- Observe trauma-informed and strengths-based practices in action.
- Work collaboratively with team members across various departments.
- Connect with fellow interns and other professionals to build your network.
- Develop a working knowledge of non-profit operations.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week.
- Flexibility to work some evenings.
- A strong academic record.
- Access to your own housing and transportation to the internship site.
- Comfort working with children and adults of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal instructions.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in Lufkin, Texas.
- The role is on-site to ensure an immersive, relational learning experience.
- This is an unpaid, educational placement.
- The term for this position is Winter 2027.
- We welcome students from majors including Sociology, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, and other related fields.
