About the role#
Buckner International offers hands-on, immersive internship experiences for students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. This program provides exposure to human services work within a faith-based nonprofit. You will observe trauma-informed and strengths-based practices while gaining a practical understanding of how to support families and children in vulnerable situations.
What you'll do#
- Support family strengthening and case management services.
- Assist with community outreach and program delivery.
- Engage in volunteer and group engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to program administration, research, or special projects.
- Develop a working knowledge of nonprofit operations.
- Grow your skills in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Work collaboratively with team members across various departments.
- Connect with fellow interns and professionals to build your network.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week, including some evening availability.
- Access to your own housing and transportation to the assigned site.
- Comfort working with children and adults of various ages, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

- This internship is located in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.
- All placements are on-site to ensure an immersive learning experience.
- This is an unpaid educational placement.
- The term is Winter 2027.
