2026 Building Science Internship

About the role#

This is a paid, full-time internship opportunity for Summer 2026. You will work under the mentorship of licensed architects and engineers, gaining practical experience in building envelope analysis, component constructability, and field service testing. This role offers exposure to industry standards including ICC, NFPA, ADA, ASTM, ANSI, and AAMA.

What you'll do#

• Collect and test construction material samples for structures such as pavements, dams, and buildings using methods including coring, ground penetrating radar, falling weight deflectometer, anchor tests, and non-destructive testing.
• Assist with vibration monitoring tasks, including the deployment and field servicing of monitors at construction sites, as well as real-time data collection and processing.
• Perform building condition surveys and assessments by documenting field conditions through photography, field notes, and measurements.
• Participate in practical engineering applications and professional development activities.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program for architecture, civil-structural engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Ability to commit to full-time employment for six months, from May through November or December 2026.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to walk, stand, and climb at job sites.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight stays.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask.
