About the role#
Braun Intertec is hiring students for a 6-month co-op based in Urbandale, Iowa. This role offers field experience in civil engineering and construction materials testing. You will work under the guidance of a professional engineer mentor and receive technical training on industry standards including ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, ICC, and DOT procedures.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
- Conduct onsite materials testing for commercial and transportation projects.
- Coordinate with construction crews regarding field observations.
- Collaborate with project managers and technicians to ensure project specifications are met.
- Participate in a 3-day training event covering construction safety, material standards, and equipment operation.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain, which may include heights or confined spaces.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program for Civil Engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
- Commitment to a full-time, 6-month schedule from mid-May to December.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

- Term: Summer 2027 and Fall 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position at an hourly rate of $20 to $24.
