About the role#
Braun Intertec is hiring a Civil Engineering and Construction Materials Testing Co-op for a 6-month term in Bismarck, North Dakota. This is a paid, full-time position for students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, industrial engineering, or construction management. You will work alongside professional engineer mentors to gain field experience and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing on construction materials including soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
- Conduct onsite materials testing for commercial and transportation projects.
- Coordinate with project managers and technicians to verify that project specifications are met.
- Participate in a 3-day training event covering construction safety, soil compaction, ACI certification, and nuclear density gauge operation.
- Learn and apply industry standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, ICC, and DOT.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, which may include navigating uneven terrain, heights, or confined spaces.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record from the last 3 years.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds.
- Working safe attitude and mindset.
- Prior experience in landscaping, construction, or farming is helpful.
- Experience driving a pickup truck or other large vehicles.
- Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
