    About the role#

    As an R&D Engineering Intern in the Electrophysiology unit, you will contribute to the design and development of medical devices that treat heart rhythm disorders. This role focuses on diagnostic and treatment technologies, including pulsed field ablation and radiofrequency, to improve procedural efficiency and patient access. You will work on-site to support the creation of next-generation medical solutions.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform engineering tasks using your problem-solving skills.
    • Assess prototype devices for safety and effectiveness using benchtop and preclinical methods.
    • Translate R&D work into clinical contexts to ensure products meet user needs.
    • Review recorded clinical procedures and develop test methods to replicate real-world use.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in training and mentorship opportunities.
    • Gain exposure to operations within a Fortune 500 medical device company.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor's or graduate degree program in Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
    • Candidates in non-biomedical fields must have relevant laboratory experience.
    • Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028, with at least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
    • Ability to commit to one of the following full program periods: May 17th - August 6th OR May 24th - August 13th.
    • Experience with pre-clinical or benchtop work in a professional or academic setting.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and a desire to learn new technologies.
    • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
    • Preference is given to those pursuing a PhD or starting a Master's program.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, full-time internship based in St. Paul and Arden Hills, Minnesota.
    • The role is strictly on-site, requiring presence in the office at least four to five days per week.
    • You must have reliable transportation to and from the Arden Hills corporate location.
    • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires a prohibited substance test.
