About the role#
As a Software Developer intern, you will join our campus program to gain practical skills and contribute to the BMO team. This role is a full-time, 12-month opportunity designed for students currently enrolled in an academic program who intend to return to their studies. You will work independently on complex tasks, identify and solve problems, and apply the Risk Management Framework to protect the bank.
What you'll do#
- Drive the software development lifecycle by transforming requirements into features.
- Write code and manage the preparation of design specifications.
- Translate user needs into technical specifications and documentation.
- Analyze, develop, test, and implement new software programs.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault rectification.
- Ensure code and configurations adhere to security, logging, error handling, and performance standards.
- Evaluate new technologies for fit within the current ecosystem.
- Follow release management processes and apply version controls.
- Support system design and provide advice on security requirements.
- Debug business systems and service applications.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science or Computer Engineering academic program and returning to your studies.
- Technical proficiency gained through education or business experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in programming, applications integration, and test driven development.
- Intermediate skills in system development lifecycle, troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Intermediate analytical, problem solving, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication, collaboration, and team skills.
- Foundational proficiency in cloud computing, microservices, and quality assurance.
- Foundational ability in creative thinking, emotional agility, and technology business requirements analysis.
