About the role#
As an AI Engineer intern for the Winter 2027 term, you will join our team to build and maintain software solutions. This role is a full-time, 8-month internship based in Toronto. You will work on projects that transform business requirements into technical features while gaining experience in the software development lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to work independently on complex tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems.
What you'll do#
- Drive the software development lifecycle by translating user needs into technical specifications.
- Write code, manage design specifications, and support system design.
- Conduct software testing, maintenance, and debugging of business systems and service applications.
- Analyze, develop, and implement new software programs while ensuring adherence to security, logging, error handling, and performance standards.
- Perform troubleshooting and fault rectification for system and core software components.
- Evaluate new technologies for fit within our ecosystem and assess their impact on data and risk.
- Follow release management processes and apply version controls.
- Apply the Risk Management Framework to make informed decisions that protect the bank.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an academic program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science and returning to your studies.
- Proficiency in Python development and experience with Generative AI/LLM concepts and Prompt Engineering.
- Experience with GitHub, source control, and data analysis tools like SQL and Pandas.
- Knowledge of the System Development Lifecycle, cloud computing, microservices, and applications integration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build professional relationships.
- Adaptability, learning agility, and the ability to think creatively.
- Familiarity with RAG solutions, agentic workflows, Azure OpenAI or AWS AI services, MLOps, and Copilot Studio is considered an asset.
