About the role#
As an Actuarial Analyst intern, you will join the team to gain practical experience in insurance product pricing and actuarial operations. You will work on cash flow testing, monitor experience data, and contribute to the profitability analysis of new and existing insurance products. This role requires working with various stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and ensure the effective execution of operational programs.
What you'll do#
- Price insurance products using up-to-date assumptions and perform cash flow testing.
- Monitor lapse, mortality, and morbidity experience to report on product profitability.
- Analyze and evaluate competitor insurance products to identify growth opportunities.
- Build and validate Excel spreadsheets for product values and profitability analysis.
- Provide sales support by producing insurance quotes and performing illustrations based on defined parameters.
- Contribute to product design, including presenting counter proposals and providing technical expertise for special projects.
- Apply the Risk Management Framework to ensure all activities align with bank policies and regulations.
- Coordinate management information for internal and external audits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an actuarial science or mathematics degree program.
- Successful completion of at least one SOA exam and active pursuit of an FSA or FCIA designation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid work ethic.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and influence stakeholders.
- Knowledge of life insurance products is considered an asset.
