About the role#
As a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Intern, you will develop financial analysis and credit assessment skills while working alongside experienced Commercial Bankers. You will contribute to projects, assess risk, and learn how BMO partners with businesses to fuel growth. What you'll do#
- Analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing commercial loans.
- Perform financial analysis and calculations to provide recommendations.
- Support portfolio monitoring and compliance by analyzing metrics and assessing industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare detailed credit summaries to assess creditworthiness.
- Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans while adhering to bank and risk policies.
- Build and maintain client relationships in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
- Identify revenue, cross-selling, and share of wallet opportunities to enhance portfolio growth.
- Serve as a point of contact for service requests and manage timely data entry into systems.
- Provide content and support for proposals and presentations.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating in Spring 2028.
- Preferred minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0.
- Preferred minimum of two undergraduate finance and accounting classes or equivalent experience.
- Foundational proficiency in financial analysis, loan structuring, data analysis tools, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, credit risk assessment, and banking operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a critical, analytical mindset.
- Relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations is an asset.
