About the role#
This internship provides exposure to financial concepts within the health insurance industry. You will support a specific area of the organization and assist the team with recurring processes and strategic projects under direct supervision.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the monthly close process, budget process, and board financial reporting.
- Assist with the review of the general ledger and internal or external financial reporting.
- Support the independent audit process.
- Review federal tax provisions, personal property tax, and premium tax.
- Assist with billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and governmental reporting.
- Handle tasks related to claims disbursement accounting and the cost accounting process.
- Prepare management reporting.
- Participate in investment accounting activities and engage with external investment advisors.
- Review organization and purpose, reporting requirements, and financial, regulatory, and tax matters.
- Complete projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Capability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, departments, and customers.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The term runs from May 26, 2027, to July 30, 2027.
- Work modality is hybrid, with time spent on-site at the Omaha office in Aksarben Village.
- You must live within commuting distance of the Omaha office.
