    About the role#

    This internship provides hands-on experience with healthcare financial data, claims management, and reimbursement methodologies. You will work alongside reimbursement specialists to analyze claims data, build reports, and identify trends that impact healthcare financial performance. This role is designed for students interested in how healthcare organizations determine and apply reimbursement for patient care.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze healthcare claims, focusing on utilization, service types, denials, and reimbursement trends.
    • Use SQL to source claims data and Microsoft Excel to organize, validate, and summarize large datasets.
    • Support the development of reports and dashboards to identify savings opportunities and operational inefficiencies.
    • Evaluate reimbursement for commercial, Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Medicare claims.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on reimbursement focus areas.
    • Document findings and assist in presenting recommendations to stakeholders.
    • Identify opportunities to improve patient access to care.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Public Health, or a related field.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
    • Familiarity with SQL or a willingness to learn.
    • A strong interest in healthcare finance, reimbursement, contracting, revenue cycle, or healthcare operations.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
    • The term runs from Wednesday, May 26, through Friday, July 30, 2027.
    • The role follows a hybrid work schedule with on-site requirements at the Omaha, Nebraska office in Aksarben Village. You must live within commuting distance.
