About the role#
As a Tax Intern in the Digital Tax Solutions group, you will join the Tax Automation and Innovation team. You will work with staff and management to assess client tax departments and implement automation tools across tax data, processes, technology, and workforce. This role provides exposure to the design, build, test, and deployment phases of tax solutions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with clients and internal team members to implement and optimize tax automation tools.
- Participate in engagements, including ongoing maintenance, consulting, and post-implementation support.
- Assist in developing training materials and documentation for final client hand-offs.
- Gather client requirements, draft request lists, and review client data and workpapers.
- Redesign processes and workpapers to improve efficiency.
- Architect solutions that address strategy, organization, people, controls, and technology.
- Execute project setup procedures, track progress, and deliver assigned tasks on time and within budget.
- Communicate project status to engagement leaders.
- Support internal firm initiatives by developing new tax solutions or consulting on existing internal technologies.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
- Major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Technology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in teams and remotely.
- Solid decision-making skills and networking abilities.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn tax and solution development concepts.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn engagement management, including budgets and project plans.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Interest in obtaining certifications such as CPA, Attorney, Enrolled Agent, Alteryx, or RPA is preferred.
