About the role#
As a FIG Audit Intern in our Houston office, you will specialize in auditing financial institutions. You will participate in a hands-on training program during your first week to learn audit software and procedures. Your daily work will mirror that of our first-year audit associates, providing a view into a career in public accounting.
What you'll do#
- Join engagement teams with Principals, Managers, and other associates to complete audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Gain exposure to 8-12 client engagements, including credit unions and community banks.
- Travel to client sites to perform audit work.
- Compile and analyze financial information.
- Test and document business transactions.
- Prepare and review financial statements.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
- A 3.0 GPA in both your cumulative record and accounting major.
- Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course by winter 2027 is preferred.
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week, including Saturdays, from January through mid-April 2028.
- Strong motivation to pursue a career in public accounting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through work or extracurricular activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven time management skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
- A high degree of curiosity and a willingness to learn.
- Prior work experience is preferred, though not required.
