About the role#
As a summer 2028 intern in our Houston office, you will join the Financial Institutions Group. This role offers hands-on experience in auditing financial institutions. You will start with a week of training to learn our audit software and procedures. Throughout the summer, you will work alongside experienced audit professionals and take on tasks similar to those of our first-year associates.
What you'll do#
- Assist with audit, review, and compilation engagements.
- Support employee benefit plan audits, including 401(k) plan audits.
- Prepare and organize audit workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Perform testing of account balances, transactions, and internal controls.
- Assist with confirmations, reconciliations, and analytical procedures.
- Research accounting and auditing matters.
- Communicate with clients and firm personnel.
- Participate in team meetings and engagement planning.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information.
What you'll need#
- You are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
- You have completed at least one intermediate accounting course.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher in your cumulative and accounting coursework.
- Strong drive to pursue a career in public accounting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through work experience or extracurricular activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven time management skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
- A high degree of curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Previous work experience is preferred, though not required.
