About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to support our client base. This role involves preparing tax returns and extensions while gaining hands-on experience with firm practices. You will participate in client service projects and begin building professional relationships within the accounting field.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates.
- Use tax software to complete simple returns for review.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Help with components of income tax provisions and apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Research tax information using online tools to monitor law and factual developments.
- Communicate tax developments to your team and recommend methods to maximize client benefits.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a related field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions as directed.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
