About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will support our client base by preparing returns and extensions under the supervision of experienced professionals. This role offers a hands-on perspective of our firm practices and provides an opportunity to build professional relationships while you gain experience in tax compliance and consulting.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and extensions using tax software applications.
- Perform quarterly estimates and assist with year-end filing projections.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices.
- Apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48 and assist with income tax provisions.
- Use online research tools to gather tax information and monitor law developments.
- Communicate tax developments to the client service team.
- Take initiative on engagement letters and impending due dates.
- Ensure client and team compliance with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
