About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to support our client base. This role involves preparing tax returns and extensions while gaining hands-on experience with firm practices. You will participate in tax compliance, consulting, and accrual tasks to help clients navigate their tax reporting requirements.
What you'll do#
- Prepare simple tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions.
- Collect data to meet filing requirements and organize files to minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Support components of income tax provisions and apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Use online research tools to monitor tax law developments and communicate findings to the team.
- Take initiative on impending due dates and engagement letters.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions as directed.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred, as is a Masters degree in Accounting.
