About the role#
BDO Canada is seeking a Co-op Student or Intern to join the Forensic Disputes & Investigation (FDI) team in Toronto for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, hybrid position running from May to August 2027. You will work with a national team providing investigative, litigation support, and insurance advisory services to a diverse client base.
What you'll do#
- Execute FDI engagements, including investigations into fraud, corruption, money-laundering, and asset misappropriation.
- Perform economic analysis for business interruption, product loss, and cyber claims.
- Conduct accounting analysis for shareholder disputes, breach of contracts, and construction-related claims.
- Examine financial records, analyze data, and construct financial models to support forensic findings.
- Conduct industry and economic research to assist in drafting client reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with engagement teams to plan tasks and support business development opportunities.
- Develop professional relationships with peers and clients.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program specializing in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Intention to pursue a CPA designation.
- Strong interest in a career within Investigative and Forensic Accounting.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or interest in learning data analytics tools, with expertise in PowerBI or Tableau considered an asset.
- Ability to manage competing deliverables and varying deadlines.
