About the role#
The Software Engineer Co-op/Intern joins the Enterprise Solutions team within the Technology department. This role supports the planning and delivery of complex information systems to ensure applications remain operational and aligned with business needs. You will work alongside financial professionals and IT teams to manage a portfolio of vendor and web-based applications.
What you'll do#
- Provide analytical and programming support for new application development and existing system enhancements.
- Resolve daily technical issues across various platforms and research complex problems.
- Define design specifications and technical solutions in collaboration with business representatives.
- Present system solutions to clients and translate user requirements into technical specifications.
- Identify system inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Engage with vendors to address operational needs.
- Participate in change control processes for software releases and upgrades.
- Document changes to procedures, applications, and data stores.
- Conduct business analysis sessions and create support documentation like technical user guides.
- Maintain content within Jira and Confluence.
- Participate in Kanban or Scrum ceremonies to coordinate tasks.
- Provide training on new application functionality and support team projects.
What you'll need#
- University-level coursework in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with programming tools, technical design, and problem-solving.
- Technical writing skills and familiarity with Git for source control.
- Ability to create workflow diagrams and process flowcharts.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Dedication to accuracy, high ethical standards, and continuous learning.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, third-party product support, or finance and capital markets is considered an asset.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
- Location: Victoria, British Columbia.
- Modality: On-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
