About the role#
This summer internship program offers students the opportunity to work directly with senior professionals at Brevan Howard. You will join the Systematic Trading Technology team, which builds and maintains the platform used for executing systematic strategies and managing market data. The program includes an initial week of training covering financial markets, trading strategies, and technical tools. Interns participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and production support.
What you'll do#
- Build and extend real-time services for order execution and trading workflows.
- Manage market data capture, normalization, and delivery for systematic strategies.
- Develop internal tooling and interfaces for portfolio managers and traders.
- Contribute to testing, instrumentation, and monitoring for production trading systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a penultimate year undergraduate, or a 1st year master's or PhD student, with a degree awarded before July 2028.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Programming experience in Java.
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Linux, Git, and SQL.
- Technical skills in Excel, VBA, and R.
- Strong mathematical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in building reliable, low-latency systems and financial markets.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Location & details#
- This role is based in New York, New York.
- The internship is a full-time, on-site position for Summer 2027.
- Compensation is based on an annualized salary of $150,000, prorated for the 10-week duration, and includes a housing stipend and a completion bonus.
