About the role#
BCI is seeking an Investment Risk Modelling student for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will join the Investment Strategy and Risk department, specifically working with the Investment Risk Modelling and Public Markets Risk Management group. This role supports the monitoring of BCI's globally diversified portfolio of assets.
What you'll do#
- Support the monitoring of day-to-day operations related to market and counterparty risks.
- Assist in risk management oversight by preparing reports, analyses, and measurement tools.
- Develop risk-reporting templates and use AI tools to improve data visualization and create interactive reports.
- Document new processes and update existing manuals.
- Complete ad-hoc projects using Python and Power BI.
- Apply AI tools to automate repetitive tasks and streamline reporting workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university degree program with coursework in financial risk management and investment management.
- Familiarity with Python, Bloomberg, SQL, and VBA.
- Working knowledge of AI tools and their application to data analysis and reporting.
- Fundamental understanding of business and investment disciplines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication style and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
- A proactive, resourceful approach and a commitment to ethical standards.
Location & details#
- This position is based at our office in Victoria, British Columbia.
- The role is full-time for the Winter 2027 term.
- Work modality is on-site with the option to work from home one day per week.
- This is a paid position with a bi-weekly salary of $2,330.00 plus 6% vacation pay.
- A fixed-rate travel allowance is provided for students relocating to Victoria.
