About the role#
BCI is seeking an Investment Risk Analytics Solutions intern for the Winter 2027 term. You will report to the Principal, Investment Risk Analytics Solutions, and focus on building advanced analytics tools and AI-powered solutions. This role involves enhancing concentration risk analysis and reporting capabilities across the total fund, combining hands-on development with strategic risk management.
What you'll do#
- Develop Python-based analytics tools and AI solutions for concentration risk analysis.
- Build and maintain a concentration risk chatbot using NLP and machine learning.
- Create automated data pipelines and ETL processes to streamline risk data.
- Design and implement interactive dashboards and visualization tools.
- Collaborate with the core developer to improve existing risk analytics platforms.
- Develop APIs and integrate AI solutions with current risk management systems.
- Support the automation of investment risk production processes.
- Create technical documentation and user guides.
- Assist in testing, debugging, and optimizing analytics applications.
- Research and implement innovative AI/ML approaches.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Python with experience in data analysis libraries.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Ability to build analytics tools, dashboards, or automation solutions from scratch.
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts and experience with chatbot development or NLP tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Victoria, British Columbia.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).
- Modality: On-site with the option to work one day per week from home.
- Compensation: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly plus 6% vacation pay.
- Travel: A fixed-rate travel allowance is provided for those relocating to Victoria.
