The Institute for Oral History at Baylor University is seeking a student worker to assist with the transcription and processing of oral history interviews. This role focuses on converting audio recordings into written transcripts and providing general office support to ensure the smooth operation of departmental projects.
What you'll do#
- Transcribe audio recordings collected through various oral history projects.
- Audit-check and proofread transcripts for accuracy.
- Research the correct spelling of names and technical terms using departmental and online resources.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including mail processing, journal distribution, and posting event flyers around campus.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program, with a preference for students in History, Communications, or English.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week during business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Strong attention to detail for proofreading and editing.
- Proficiency in conducting research to verify names and terms.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at Carroll Library.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Term: Ongoing, rolling basis.
- Compensation: $10.00 per hour.
