About the role#
The Graduate Assistant Liturgical Musician supports the Assistant Director of Chapel at Baylor University. This position focuses on the practical aspects of organizing and leading worship services shaped by historical Christian traditions. You will work from the Bobo Spiritual Life Center to facilitate chapel programming, help coordinate musical teams, and contribute to the planning of liturgies.
What you'll do#
- Organize and conduct rehearsals for the worship team.
- Lead worship during Liturgical Worship Chapel services.
- Coordinate communication between musicians and the tech team.
- Plan chapel programming and lead special services like prayer vigils or Ash Wednesday events.
- Compile service packets, including music scores and chord charts.
- Assist with professional recordings of liturgical music.
- Collaborate with partners such as the School of Music and Truett Seminary.
What you'll need#
- Five or more years of experience reading music.
- Proficiency in leading congregations both vocally and instrumentally.
- Skill in at least one musical instrument and an understanding of music theory.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with audiovisual equipment.
- Enrollment in programs such as Art, Communications, Media Studies, or Psychology.
- Ability to attend two rehearsals and two services weekly.

- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Term: Beginning Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site at the Bobo Spiritual Life Center.
- Compensation: $13.00 per hour.
- Schedule: 10 to 15 hours per week, depending on chapel needs.
