About the role#
The Graduate Assistant Liturgical Musician - Song Assistant supports the Assistant Director of Chapel in facilitating Liturgical Worship Chapel services. This role involves active participation in the planning and execution of worship services, ensuring musical and technical alignment, and contributing to the spiritual life of the campus community. This position begins in Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Organize and conduct worship team rehearsals.
- Aid in leading worship for Liturgical Worship Chapel and special campus services such as prayer vigils and Ash Wednesday.
- Plan Liturgical Worship Chapel programming and compile complete service packets, including music scores and chord charts.
- Coordinate communication between the music team and the tech booth.
- Provide musical accompaniment and assist with professional recordings of liturgical songs.
- Collaborate with partners such as the School of Music and Truett Seminary.
What you'll need#
- 5+ years of experience reading music.
- Proficiency in leading congregations both vocally and instrumentally.
- Aptitude in at least one musical instrument and music theory.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with audiovisual equipment.
- Ability to attend two rehearsals and two services each week.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas (Bobo Spiritual Life Center).
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 10 or 15 hours per week, depending on Chapel needs; may occasionally require work outside of normal business hours.
- Compensation: $13.00/hr.
- Eligibility: Open to students in Art, Communications, Media Studies, or Psychology.
