About the role#
This co-op role within the Cell Biology and Plant Biotechnology team at Bayer Crop Science focuses on improving the transformation process for major row crops. You will apply principles of cell and developmental biology to understand transformation mechanisms and create enhanced protocols for our research pipeline.
What you'll do#
- Apply scientific principles to solve complex problems.
- Design, run, and interpret experiments to improve the transformation pipeline.
- Develop new Agrobacterium-based transformation protocols for row crops.
- Organize, document, and report your research results in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with system improvement scientists to innovate transformation systems.
- Work with production teams to support technology transfer.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a commitment to safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a Master’s or PhD program.
- A degree in Plant Biology, Developmental Biology, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Experience with plant tissue culture and transformation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail in record keeping.
- Ability to learn new concepts and techniques quickly.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in diverse team environments.
- Interest in staying current with new scientific and technological developments.
