About the role#
As an Entomology Co-Op, you will contribute to research by designing and interpreting complex experiments. You will work with a team to troubleshoot bioassays and identify ways to improve current laboratory processes. At the end of your term, you will present your project findings and recommendations to the team.
What you'll do#
- Support hemipteran insect diet and plant bioassays by developing new methods and refining existing ones.
- Design and conduct studies across laboratory, growth chamber, and greenhouse settings.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and implement process improvements.
- Apply critical thinking to technical and business challenges.
- Present final research results and recommendations to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a master’s or Ph.D. program in entomology, plant sciences, molecular biology, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of insect rearing, hemipteran insects, Omics, artificial diets, and plant-insect interactions.
- Experience with insect bioassays, dissections, and transgenic cropping systems.
- Background in insect feeding behavior, physiology, RNAi, and molecular biology.
- Ability to design experiments, run basic statistics, and report results.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
