About the role#
Asahi Kasei Bioprocess America is looking for a motivated R&D Intern to join our team in Glenview, Illinois. You will work in an industrial life sciences laboratory with a focus on virus filtration, viral clearance, and bioprocessing technologies. This role allows you to lead a defined technical project while working alongside experienced scientists to build practical laboratory skills.
What you'll do#
- Lead a research project focused on virus filtration or viral clearance technologies.
- Research scientific literature and industry practices to support your project goals.
- Propose experimental approaches and plan your project activities.
- Conduct experiments while following safety and quality standards.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data under the guidance of scientific mentors.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation.
- Summarize your findings and deliver a final technical presentation and written report.
- Collaborate with scientists and technical staff during team meetings and discussions.
- Assist with laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep.
- Complete all required safety, biosafety, and compliance training.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation.
- Ability to research scientific literature and summarize technical information.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and follow safety procedures.
Location & details#
- Location: Glenview, Illinois.

- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour.
- Work Environment: You will work in a laboratory setting requiring the use of personal protective equipment. The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting.
