About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in O'Fallon, Missouri. You will support the design, integration, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. This role offers hands-on experience with defense electronics, embedded systems, and test equipment. You will work alongside engineers from multiple disciplines throughout the project lifecycle. Assignments depend on current program needs and your specific area of study.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems.
- Build, wire, and troubleshoot test fixtures and engineering equipment.
- Support the debugging of electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Write and execute test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Perform circuit analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance.
- Help develop embedded systems, microcontrollers, and digital signal processing components.
- Support the testing of thermal management, power, and control systems.
- Modify LabVIEW programs for data acquisition.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project discussions.
- Research new technologies for aerospace and defense applications.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams.
- Assist with laboratory activities, project logistics, and test preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program for Electrical, Computer, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level standing is preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of electrical principles, circuit analysis, and electronic systems.
- Coursework or experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or digital signal processing.
- Familiarity with tools like SPICE, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or CAD software.
- Proficiency in software programming and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Previous internship, laboratory, or hands-on project experience is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

- Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, rolling internship.
- You may work up to 20 hours per week during the semester or up to 40 hours per week during summer break.
