About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the development, integration, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. You will work alongside engineers across multiple disciplines on projects ranging from defense electronics to thermal management and control systems. This role provides hands-on experience throughout the design and testing lifecycle, with tasks assigned based on current program needs and your background.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical and electronic systems.
- Design, build, wire, and troubleshoot test fixtures and engineering equipment.
- Support the testing and debugging of hardware, embedded systems, and system-level assemblies.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and engineering documentation.
- Conduct circuit analysis, simulations, and performance evaluations.
- Assist with embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital signal processing, and electronics development.
- Develop or modify LabVIEW programs for testing and data acquisition.
- Create and update engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project discussions.
- Research emerging technologies for aerospace and defense applications.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Assist with project logistics, laboratory activities, and test preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Preference for sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level students.
- Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuit analysis, and electronic systems.
- Coursework or knowledge related to embedded systems, microcontrollers, or digital signal processing.
- Experience with tools like SPICE, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or engineering CAD software is preferred.
- Software programming experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Previous internship, laboratory, or hands-on project experience is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

- Location: Greenfield, Indiana.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
- Hours may vary based on the academic calendar, with up to 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
