About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Accounting & Finance Intern to support financial reporting, budgeting, and daily business operations. You will work directly with our finance team to gain hands-on experience in the aerospace and defense industry. This role involves managing financial data that supports our engineering and manufacturing projects. You will assist with both routine tasks and long-term financial analysis.
What you'll do#
- Assist with general accounting and financial reporting activities.
- Support the preparation and analysis of financial schedules and reports.
- Help manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Collect and organize data to support business decisions.
- Track project costs, expenses, and other financial records.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Develop spreadsheets and financial analyses.
- Assist with data entry and validation within financial systems.
- Help prepare for internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with operations, program management, and finance teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently or on a team.
- Preferred: Intermediate or advanced Excel skills, familiarity with ERP software, or experience with cost and project accounting.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience in corporate finance, managerial accounting, or financial analysis.
