About the role#
As a Respiratory Care Intern, you will provide technical assistance and support to patient care teams under the direct supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. This role focuses on assisting with patient assessments, implementing and evaluating care plans, and contributing to quality patient outcomes outside of critical care areas.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the setup and monitoring of low-flow oxygen (6 LPM or less).
- Administer non-exotic aerosol therapy, including bronchodilators and anticholinergics.
- Perform hyperinflation and airway clearance therapy.
- Conduct electrocardiograms and manage equipment cleaning, stocking, and transport.
- Support cardiorespiratory arrest responses once certified in Basic Life Support.
- Participate in ongoing educational activities and clinical leadership development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year student in an accredited AS degree Respiratory Care program, or status as a senior-year candidate in an accredited BS degree program within one year of graduation.
- Ability to meet or exceed all academic requirements.
- Computer literacy.
- BLS certification, which must be obtained within 14 days of the hire date.
