About the role#
This is a part-time research and administrative position supporting a faculty-led project funded by an SSHRC grant. The role focuses on trade policy, regulation, and international economic law with a geographic emphasis on Europe, Canada, and the United States. You will work 20 hours per week from September 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. This position is open only to currently enrolled American University students.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with faculty on research papers, memos, and bibliographic searches.
- Synthesize and organize information for various research projects.
- Assist with the planning and execution of a policy workshop held in Washington, DC.
- Manage workshop logistics, including note taking and identifying potential speakers.
- Coordinate with the budget team to assist with program planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at American University as a BA senior, MA, JD, LLM, or PhD student.
- Prior experience in both research and administrative tasks.
- Proficiency with social science and legal research databases.
- Ability to read and synthesize complex articles, proofread documents, locate sources, and write clearly and succinctly.
- Interest in trade policy, political economy, or international economic law.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

- Compensation: $18.40 - $23.50 per hour.
