About the role#
The Kogod School of Business is looking for a student to assist with on-site event management. You will work under the direction of the Director of Events and serve as a liaison for the Kogod Event Lead. This role focuses on logistics and operational support for a variety of campus events. You will also help implement and track sustainability initiatives to ensure events meet environmental goals.
What you'll do#
- Act as a point-of-contact for day-to-day event operations.
- Review catering orders, room diagrams, and event requirements.
- Assist with room setup, including moving furniture and organizing event materials.
- Check A/V requirements and catering setups before events begin.
- Monitor attendee registration, RSVP tracking, and vendor activity on-site.
- Troubleshoot minor logistical issues as they arise.
- Track sustainability outcomes using an audit form and research new green practices.
- Prepare supplies, printing, and other necessary items for event production.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an American University student in good academic standing.
- A valid AU email account.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer-service mindset.
- Capability to work both independently and within a team.
- Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise good judgment.
- Ability to balance work tasks with school and personal life.

- Location: Main Campus, Washington, DC.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Hours: Up to 10 hours per week.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
