About the role#
The Tobacco Education & Prevention Program (TEPP) provides education, cessation resources, and policy assistance regarding tobacco and vaping use. This temporary internship offers hands-on experience supporting public health initiatives. The role runs from Fall 2026 through June 30, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Create educational materials and monthly social media posts.
- Assemble and distribute tobacco and vaping quit kits.
- Attend team and coalition meetings.
- Update program webpages.
- Assist facilitators in cessation classes.
- Manage survey creation, distribution, collection, and reporting.
- Review local and state tobacco-related media.
- Assist with progress reports and other public health programs.
- Attend community events, which may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with upper division standing.
- Major in Public Health, Communications, or a related field.
- Enrollment in at least six semester units or nine quarter units at an accredited college or university on the affiliation list.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Comfort with public speaking.
- Reliable transportation.
- A responsible and reliable work ethic.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position based in Sacramento, California. Work is performed both remotely and in the TEPP office in Rancho Cordova.
- The role involves approximately 10% travel or field work.
- You will typically work 10 to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with the possibility of up to 40 hours during academic breaks.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM, with occasional weekend work for community events.
