About the role#
The School of International Service Office of International Programs (SIS Abroad) is looking for an undergraduate assistant to support programming and outreach. You will report to the Study Abroad Advisor and help the team manage international partnerships and student mobility. This is a part-time position requiring 6 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Handle inquiries sent to the SIS Abroad email inbox.
- Process application materials for incoming and outgoing study abroad students.
- Assist with information sessions and pre-departure orientations.
- Support program development for international faculty-led courses.
- Help manage student funding opportunities, including publicizing programs and reviewing applications.
- Brainstorm new ways to engage students through social media and the office website.
- Perform various administrative tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an American University student with Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Senior undergraduate standing is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take initiative.
- Reliable, flexible, and detail-oriented work habits.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google platforms.
- Interest in international or experiential education.
- Prior office or administrative experience.
- Experience with social media, marketing, or website content management.

- This position is located on the American University main campus in Washington, DC.
- The role is part-time, requiring 6 hours per week.
- Compensation is $18.40 to $18.50 per hour.
