About the role#
This administrative position supports the Global Inquiry Department within the School of International Service. You will assist with daily operations, project-based tasks, and department events. This role is restricted to students who have a Federal Work Study Award.
What you'll do#
- Handle front office coverage and maintain the department inbox.
- Collect data and perform paper filing tasks.
- Assist with event logistics, including maintaining registration lists and creating event webpages.
- Operate technology for virtual events and attend occasional evening events.
- Research professional development and employment opportunities for students.
- Help with marketing campaigns and website maintenance.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time well and work self-sufficiently.
- Dependable and organized work habits.
- Commitment to developing accessible materials for a diverse student body.
- Graduate students at American University are preferred.
- Prior administrative or data analysis experience is helpful.
Location & details#
- Location: Main Campus in Washington, DC.
- Schedule: 5 to 10 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site with some remote flexibility based on department needs.
- Pay: $18.40 to $19.50 per hour.
