About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within the Development Team for the American Heart Association in Austin, Texas. You will support major fundraising initiatives including Go Red For Women, Cycle Nation, Heart Ball, Red Hot Summer Night, and Impact Campaigns. This role focuses on the planning, execution, and wrap-up phases of these events.
What you'll do#
- Assist with fundraising logistics, administrative tasks, and campaign implementation for the Austin market.
- Collaborate with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership.
- Manage external communications by calling and emailing donors, volunteers, and third-party vendors.
- Maintain data and generate reports using systems like Luminate and Tableau.
- Create and update marketing collateral such as invitations, social media posts, and volunteer rosters.
- Prepare for and attend meetings to assist with volunteer management.
- Research prospects to identify new leads and support strategies to increase volunteerism.
What you'll need#
- Current senior or graduate student status pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, nonprofit management, event planning, or public relations.
- Experience or interest in fundraising, sales, or promotion.
- Prior experience with event planning in a professional or nonprofit setting.
- Comfort with professional outreach to community leaders, donors, and vendors via phone and email.
- Proficiency in Canva for creating graphics and Microsoft Office for general tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Reliable transportation and a stable WiFi connection.
- Availability of at least 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30am and 5pm.

- Location: Austin, Texas (Hybrid).
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027 to May 7, 2027).
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
- This is a paid, part-time internship position.
