About the role#
This summer internship offers an opportunity to work within our Process Mechanical and Machine Design groups in Tullahoma, Tennessee. You will join project teams focused on designing complex testing equipment and facilities for the automotive and aerospace industries. You will work under the supervision of a technical manager and mentor, attend planned activities, and deliver an end-of-assignment presentation to staff.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine engineering tasks to gain experience with methods and programs.
- Prepare computations, specifications, and reports of limited scope.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems to meet project requirements and codes.
- Coordinate with drafters to develop 3D models and 2D drawing packages.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and cost estimating.
- Interface with clients and other disciplines during design reviews and presentations.
- Review subcontractor submittals and provide support during construction at project sites.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BSME or MSME degree program (rising sophomore or above).
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Completed coursework in Statics, Dynamics, and Strength of Materials.
- Involvement in at least one extra-curricular activity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- US Citizenship.
Location & details#
- Location: Tullahoma, Tennessee.
- Term: Summer 2027 (approximately 10 weeks).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:15 pm.
- Note: Interns are responsible for their own housing arrangements.
